This batch of math story problems comes to us from Ms. Gongora's third grade class at Northampton Elementary School in Spring, TX.

(1) Math Whiz
Ashley fed 50 cats. 30 of them got full. How many are still eating?
 
(2) Dogs
I have 16 puppies. 5 run away. How many are left?
 
(3) On Friday the 13th
 On Friday the 13th, 13 black cats crossed Kimmie and Zoe. Then 6 more black cats crossed their path. How many black cats crossed their path?
 
(4) Ducks
There were two ducks at a pond. Three ducks joined and two left. How many are left?
 
(5) Dogs
There are 16 dogs in a park. Seven of them played on the grass. The rest went swimming. How many stayed dry?
 
(6) Birds
There are 5 birds in a tree. 4 flew away. 2 came back. How many birds are in the tree now?
 
(7) Hot Cookies
Ann had hot cookies to give to a sick friend. She had 25 cookies cooling on the table. Ann took 25 more cookies out of the oven. How many cookies does Ann have now?
 
(8) Parrots
There were 7 parrots in a tree. 3 flew away. 2 came back. How many are there in all?
 
(9) The Little Old Lady Who Ate Snails
The little old lady was on a trip in the jungle. She found 100 snails. She ate 70. How many snails are left?
 
(10) Boats
There were 2 boats. In each boat there were 16 people. How many people were in the 2 boats altogether?
